ARTICLE V - DIFFERENTIALS
1. An employee writing a column on a regularly assigned basis will be paid an additional $12.50 per week.
2. Employees paid above the top minimum will maintain the same dollar differential above the new top minimums when minimums are increased.
3. Employees who work weekday nights (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday), between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., will receive a night differential of $2.65 a shift or $13.25 per week.
4. An employee who works in a higher classification will receive at least the minimum in the higher classification next higher than his or her regular salary, with the exception of emergencies.
5. Employees who work on the weekends (Saturday, Sunday) will receive an additional premium of $6.00 per shift worked.
6. An employee covered by this contract who is assigned to work in an excluded position will receive a differential of 15 percent of his or her day's salary with a minimum payment of $10.00. It is understood and agreed that such assignment will be for a minimum period of one working day and that the foregoing differential will be paid for each day so worked.
7. Split shifts are voluntary. Employees who agree to work split shifts at the request of management shall receive a differential of $5 per split shift worked at management's request. Employees who request to work a split shift shall not be paid a differential. The split shift differential does not apply to Display and Classified Outside Advertising Salespeople and to Circulation District Managers, the nature of whose work may require them to work split shifts.
